Revelation: She Disembodied
Women have been socialized to disassociate and disembody in order to survive. We’ve been trained to fit ourselves into tight spaces, conform to impossible ideals, conceal our “messes”, and ultimately hide our true selves.
How do I know? Because I myself have traveled the long road back into my own body after years of trying not to be there.
From a young age, we make it emotionally impossible for girls and women to stay inside their bodies. We are taught from a young age that our bodies are dirty, shameful, slutty, and untrustworthy. We are taught that the “ideal woman” is something other than who we are, not to mention the absence of powerful, shapely, messy, fully-permissioned feminine role-models and leaders in the world. It’s a complete set up, and it creates endless opportunities for us to abandon ourselves, numb ourselves as a way of surviving the trauma of never measuring up. To live in most societies is to be in a toxic emotionally abusive relationship, day in and day out. Is it any wonder women stay in them in real life?
Our bodies are the access into our human experience but also into the divine. Our body gives our soul the opportunity to experience life on earth. Our body is our sensorial GPS that tells us which way we need to head next. It’s the vessel we inhabit in order to animate the spirit within. In order to awaken the new world that’s wanting to be born, we are being called back into the body for a reclamation. It’s time for women to claim her birthright to be fully embodied, fully-permissioned and fully shaped.
